'Dogs host Rams for Senior Weekend

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team will host Colorado State for Senior Weekend, April 26-28 at Margie Wright Diamond.

OFF THE BAT

Fresno State is 30-15 (10-6 MW) this season, and 18-10 at home.

Fresno State has reached 30 wins for the first time since 2021.

Fresno State has won eight out of its last 10 conference games.

Fresno State currently sits in third place in the MW standings.

Fresno State will honor seven seniors in Keahilele Mattson, Taylor Gilmore, Juliana Wilson, Bella Rocco, Bailey Williams, Sophia Medellin and D'Asha Saiki.

Six Bulldogs are batting above .300.

Sophomore Natalie Elias leads the Bulldogs at the plate with a .381 batting average and 59 hits.

The bullpen owns an average ERA of 2.79.

Senior right-handed pitcher leads the team with a 2.08 ERA, 17 wins, five saves and 120 strikeouts.

SCOUTING THE RAMS

Colorado State is 25-15 (8-7) this season and 5-8 on the road.

Colorado State is on a seven-game winning streak, after winning seven of its last eight MW games.

Six rams are batting above .300.

Colorado State is led by Maya Matsubara with a .432 batting average and 51 hits.

The bullpen owns an average ERA of 3.28.

Senior Danielle Serna leads the team with a 2.90 ERA.

GILMORE NAMED MW PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Senior right-handed pitcher Taylor Gilmore was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for games played April 16-21.

Gilmore helped lead the Bulldogs to a 2-2 week, including a series win over UNLV, who entered the weekend in second place in the MW standings. The senior finished the week with a 0.58 ERA, going 1-0 in the circle, pitching 12.0 innings with two starts and three appearances.

The Broomfield, Colo. native only gave up one earned run throughout the week. Gilmore didn't allow any extra-base hits and only recorded one walk. She dished 12 strikeouts, limiting opposing batters to a .261 batting average.

Gilmore propelled the Bulldogs to a series win over the Rebels, pitching her fifth complete game of the season and striking out six in game three. She owns a 17-3 record in the circle this season.

This is her first weekly conference honor as a Bulldog.

SCORE FIRST, WIN.

Fresno State is 20-3 this season when scoring first.

PORTAL PRODUCTION

Three out of the Bulldogs' top five hitters are transfers.

Natalie Elias (CBU) leads the team at the plate with a .381 batting average and 59 hits. Sophia Medellin (Cal) owns a .361 batting average with 52 hits and a team-high 38 RBIs. Lauren Almeida (Utah Tech) has a .300 batting average with 42 hits and 27 RBIs this season.

MATTSON MAKING HER MARK

Keahilele Mattson has etched her name in the program's record book. Mattson's career slugging percentage of .582 ranks No. 5 in program history. She ranks No. 6 in career home runs with 29, tied with Jamie Southern (2002-05).

Since joining the Bulldogs in 2021, Mattson has started 196 games in left field for the Bulldogs.
