Jordan Davis couldn’t help but quote a line from the classic 1980s movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when he debuted his sentimental new single on Friday (August 12). The country singer-songwriter kicked off the weekend with “Next Thing You Know,” a song that serves as a tribute to the most special moments in life.

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it,” Davis quoted as he announced his new song on Instagram on Friday. “So proud to have a song like this out, wrote it with 3 of the best guys in country music….Y’all give it a listen…Also, yes I quoted Ferris Bueller.”

The song is one of Davis’ latest releases since his massively-popular collaboration with Luke Bryan, “Buy Dirt,” (and joins other previously-released fan-favorite songs, like “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot,” “Singles You Up,” “Take It From Me,” “Almost Maybes,” “What My World Spins Around” and more).

“I say that song was about my faith, about my family and about my friends. I wrote it with my brother and another set of brothers that are two of our best friends,” Davis previously said of the sentimental song, “Buy Dirt.” “So, it’s just kind of — I don’t think that song gets written if it’s not with three guys that I dearly love, about three things that are the most important things in my life. So, it’s kind of all that tied into one.”
