According to a New York Times analysis of several recent studies, we discovered all body fat is not equal!
Apparently, belly fat is the worst. So if your waist measures 35 inches or more for women or 40 or more inches for men, then you've got a potentially dangerous amount of belly fat.
The newspaper notes that love handles or excess fat on the thighs or buttocks is "harmless," belly fat "has been strongly linked to a host of serious disease risks, including heart disease, cancer and dementia."
