Jake Owen Exposes Nerve-Wracking Moment

Did you know that Jake Owen is a thespian?

Jake may not carry the "T" card, but after he corrected Cody Alan for calling his "film debut" a "movie debut," we think Jake is a pro on the silver screen. (Who knew that film and movie weren’t interchangeable?)

"Jake Owen, you're in a new movie called 'The Friend,' and I did not know you were a thespian!" said Cody.

"I learned because I am not a thespian, that its actually called a film," Jake laughed and continued with a joking sarcastic undertone, "Like me, you're not a thespian, and ugh, as we speak of this "FILM"… Wow, that just sounds better, right?"

The comfortable banter between Cody and Jake continued as Cody snapped back with a grin, “It does."

Jake shared that the film is based on the 2015 Esquire autobiographical essay written by Matthew Teague, sharing the story of a couple coping with the wife's diagnosis of terminal ovarian cancer and a friend who uproots his life to help take care of them.

"It's a story about the beauty of friendship and their friend moving to town to take care of them at this time. And I'm a friend of a friend in the film. And it's just really a beautiful story about the realities of our lives." shared Jake in a statement.

Jake also shared with Cody that he was nervous to join such a professional cast of actors saying, “I feel like we all have a built-in confidence, but it’s the difference of being in the house of someone who is a professional at what they do. Like, I can play golf, but go put me on the PGA Tour and I’ll look like an idiot. It was really kind of nerve-wracking.”

Jake will be aligning with stars, Jason Segel, Dakota Johnson, and Casey Affleck in the film. A release date has yet to be announced.
