FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State accepted an invitation to participate in the 16th annual PUBG MOBILE New Mexico Bowl on Sunday. The Bulldogs will face the University of Texas - El Paso Miners in the postseason matchup. The game will be played Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11:15 am PT at University Stadium in Albuquerque, N.M. and will be televised nationally on ESPN and broadcast on ESPN Radio.

This marks Fresno State's first bowl game appearance since 2018 when the 'Dogs defeated Arizona State 31-20 in the Las Vegas Bowl that historic 12-win season. This is Fresno State's third trip to the New Mexico Bowl in program history, and first since 2009.

"The Fresno State Bulldogs are a power again and we are very excited to welcome them back to Albuquerque," said Executive Director Jeff Siembieda. "This is a talented and entertaining football team that has been impressive all season. With an incredibly passionate fan base and one of the best teams on the West Coast, we are in for a great show."

UTEP went 7-5 in the 2021 campaign, matching their highest win total since the 2014 season, which saw the Miners appear in the New Mexico Bowl as well. UTEP will play in its 15th bowl game in program history. Making their third trip to the New Mexico Bowl, the Miners are looking for their first win in postseason action since the 1967 Sun Bowl.

The Bulldogs and Miners will meet for the 13th time in program history on Dec. 18 this year. Fresno State owns the series, 8-3-1. It will be the first meeting between the teams since 2004.
