Mickey Guyton is ramping up some nostalgia... The iconic country artist shared an acoustic rendition of the 2015 song that “started it all for me,” she wrote in her Instagram caption on Tuesday (May 31). The performance of the soulful breakup song had fans gushing that “Better Than You Left Me” is “one of my favorites” and deemed it one to play on repeat. Guyton sings:
“I'm better than you left me/ I’m better than I should be/ Better than I was when you walk out that door/ I’m stronger than the woman, the one that you knew back then/ So don't you think I'll take you back like every time before/ No, baby, I don't think you know me anymore/ I’m better than you left me”
Guyton also included a version of the track on her latest album, Remember Her Name. The album also includes anthems “All American,” “Love My Hair,” “Black Like Me” and the title track, which Guyton previously described as “a song about believing in yourself and never giving up on your dreams.” The whole album is a collection of songs that “make people feel self-empowered, loved, and comfortable with being themselves and this album holds true to all of that. I hope everyone who listens finds something that connects and speaks to them.”
