Pair of Bulldogs named MW All-Tournament team

FRESNO, Calif. – After having standout performances in this weekend's Mountain West Championship tournament, Fresno State baseball's Travis Welker and Tommy Hopfe have been named All-Tournament Team selections, the conference announced Sunday.

Senior Travis Welker was a defensive machine at shortstop for the Bulldogs in all three matchups this weekend, with multiple highlight-reel plays, earning him a perfect fielding percentage with six assists and put-outs. He went 4-for-12 this weekend at the plate and tacked on his seventh double to his season total.

Switch-hitter Tommy Hopfe had a dominant tournament weekend, batting .400 and crushing two home runs, one from each side of the plate, in the Bulldog's victory over San Diego State on Day 2. Hopfe brought in five RBI with a 1.100 slugging percentage.

As a defender on first base, Hopfe had a perfect fielding percentage with two assists and 18 put-outs.

Hopfe also earned his 11th save of 2023, placing him second in the conference and 11th in the nation for season saves.

The Bulldogs closed out their 30-27 season going 1-2 in the Mountain West Championships at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium in front of the Red Wave.
