Bulldogs drop final game to Aztecs at Viejas Arena

SAN DIEGO - Fresno State women's basketball dropped their final game of the season to San Diego State at Viejas Arena on Tuesday night, 75-61, hitting a four game losing streak.

Kylee Fox and Mia Jacobs led the Bulldogs with 17 a piece on the floor. Fox played the full forty minutes to shoot 53% from the field (7-of-13), 20% from beyond the arc (1-of-5) and 100% from the charity line (2-of-2).

How it happened

Mariah Elohim got in six points to get the Bulldogs started for the first tie of the game, 8-8. Jacobs' 2-of-2 trip to the charity line made it a one possession game. An 8-0 Aztec run pushed them to a ten point lead after the first ten, 23-13.

A fast break from Saga Ukkonen led to a three for the 'Dogs first points in over four minutes. San Diego hit another seven point spurt until the Bulldogs dropped in back-to-back threes to sit within eight. Fox and Elohim started a 10-0 run from the field with their set of three-pointers. Fox and Jacobs shot the next four points. A 6-3 run by San Diego closed the first half for a seven point lead, 37-30.

Bulldogs opened with nine points to start the second half with Fox on four of those, before hitting a scoring drought. Fresno State made one of their last nine field goals sitting out by four points of the lead with three minutes to go. San Diego built back their double figure lead on a 5-0 run. Fresno State did not make a field goal in the last 5:56 but had four points from the charity line at the hands of Taija Sta. Maria.

Rayna Williams snaps the scoring drought with a shot from the paint. A technical foul on San Diego's Quezada leads Jacobs to the line (2-of-2). Sta. Maria takes it into the basket for a four point swing. Another scoring drought stunted the Bulldogs as they were one of seven from the field. San Diego's 6-0 stretch got them up by 14 as the final five minutes turned in. Aztecs never faltered from their double-digit lead. Bulldogs' and Aztecs closed on a 5-5 run.
