FRESNO, Calif. – The Diamond 'Dogs return to Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium this weekend for the squad's first-ever Mountain West conference series against the Washington State Cougars.

Fresno State will host Washington State in a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6:05 p.m. PT.

Following the conclusion of the series, Fresno State will head north to Stockton for its first midweek game against Pacific this season, on April 29 at 6:05 p.m. PT.

WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE

Washington State is in the midst of its inaugural season as a member of the Mountain West for baseball only.

The Cougars have an 8-10 record in conference play in 2024.

Washington State has already completed six MW series and has only won two.

The Cougars swept San Diego State, but were swept by Nevada, the Bulldogs' next conference opponent.

Fresno State will only face the Cougars in one series in 2025, but got a sneak peek at the club in 2024, when the 'Dogs defeated the Cougs in a non-conference series in Pullman.

FAMILIAR FACES

Turlock native Griffen Sotomayor will be reunited with some familiar faces this weekend when the Cougars, his former teammates, come to town.

Sotomayor spent two seasons at Washington State before deciding to transfer to his hometown team, the Diamond 'Dogs.

In just one season with the Bulldogs, Sotomayor has already surpassed the number of starts he had at Washington in two seasons. He has started in 33 games in a Bulldog uniform compared to 21 as a Cougar.

GO WITH THE FLOW

Aidan Cremarosa had a standout start for the Bulldogs in last weekend's series win against the Air Force Falcons.

Against the Falcons, Crem pitched a career-high 8.0 innings, striking out 10 batters in that time.

He held opposing batters to a .148 average and allowed only four hits and one earned run.

As the regular Saturday starter for Fresno State in 2025, Cremarosa has had 11 starts, 56.2 innings pitched in total.

He has struck out the second-most batters in the conference with 66, only trailing Fresno State's Jack Anker.

DOGS > CATS

The Fresno State Bulldogs are facing two feline opponents this week in the Washington State Cougars and Pacific Tigers.

The 'Dogs have three games scheduled against Washington State in the regular season, and two against Pacific.

The Bulldogs are 2-2 against big cat opponents this season, having opened the season with a split four-game series against the BYU Cougars at home.
