Bulldogs dominate Roadrunners on Friday night at Icardo Center

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- Fresno State remains undefeated after a 23 point lead propelled the Bulldogs to their first road win of the season at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield on Friday night, 74-51.

It was a dominant performance from forward Ashlyn Rean, as she led the Bulldogs with 28 points and 9 rebounds, shooting an 14-of-21 (.666) from the field. Jaisa Gamble followed with 14 points, four assists and two steals.

How it happened

Bulldogs' opened strong with an 18–11 lead after the first quarter. Ava Marr knocked down a three-pointer off a feed from Danae Powell, sparking a 7–0 run for the 'Dogs. Rean got in a last second jumper to close on a seven point lead.

The big's got the score running as Rean managed to grab a basket in the final seconds of the first period and Hedda Koenhe to start the second. Roadrunners got in two baskets before Rean got the next one in for the 'Dogs. True freshman Briana Webb saw her first collegiate basket giving the Bulldogs a near double-digit lead. The last six baskets came from the hands of Gamble, Rean and Koehne. The trio put up a combined 16 points of the teams 21 in the second period.

Fresno State dominated in the second half outscoring Bakersfield 35-23 in the second half at the hands of Rean who put up 16 points (8-of-11). Bulldogs hit a 6-0 run mid-way through the third quarter by Koehne with four on a layup and 2-of-2 charity line trip. Rean owned 10 of the teams 15 points in the final quarter hitting her career-high 28 points on a layup from a steal by Emilia Long.

Roadrunners were led by Chrishawn Coleman on 26 points (11-of-14), two assists and 4-of-9 from the foul line. Fresno State held CSU Bakersfield to less then 10 points in the final period.
