Christmas is almost here, just a couple of weeks away, and that means it’s officially time to break out the holiday movies. But with so many options, how do you choose? We decided to make it simple: our Mount Rushmore of Christmas Movies, four films that define the season in our minds.

Topping Bobby's list is The Santa Clause with Tim Allen. There’s never been a better Santa, and the movie perfectly captures the magic of the holidays. Bonus points for featuring “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” from Home Alone, making it a double win for festive vibes. Next up is Elf, which became a tradition in his wife’s family every Christmas Eve. Will Ferrell’s energy as Buddy the Elf makes it a joyous, laugh-out-loud classic, and it’s easy to see why it’s a modern favorite. The third spot goes to The Muppet Christmas Carol. He didn’t grow up watching a ton of Christmas movies, but this one sticks with him. Jim Henson’s legacy shines through in this heartfelt, musical retelling of Dickens’ story, and it’s even more poignant knowing he passed away during its production. And finally, yes, Gremlins counts as a Christmas movie. The story is set during the holidays, complete with a Christmas present that sparks chaos. It’s a little offbeat, but nothing says the season like mischievous little monsters running amok.

Amy has her own Mount Rushmore picks: Elf, Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Holiday Harmony, the last one featuring her! Other honorable mentions from the studio included Scrooged and Christmas Vacation, proving that humor, heart, and chaos all have a place in the holiday film canon. We even debated what makes a “true” Christmas movie. Home Alone? The plot could happen any time of year. Gremlins? Christmas is central to the story. And black-and-white classics like It’s a Wonderful Life have timeless magic, though they may feel less familiar if you didn’t grow up watching them.

At the end of the day, everyone’s Mount Rushmore is personal, filled with the movies that make you laugh, tear up, and feel that holiday warmth. Whether it’s a traditional pick like It’s a Wonderful Life, a hilarious hit like Elf, or a chaotic gem like Gremlins, these films bring Christmas spirit to life. So grab the popcorn, dim the lights, and get ready to make your own holiday movie memories.
