ESPN reporter Sergio Dipp made his debut as a sideline reporter for the main network’s Monday Night Football telecast on Monday night. And while he was only asked to provide one report, it was a memorable one. Wearing a pink-rose lapel pin while discussing the “diversity in the background” of Denver Broncos’ African-American head coach, Vance Joseph, Dipp, who’s Mexican, emphatically stated that Joseph was “having the time of his life!” Dipp’s enthusiastic (if a tad amateurish) report quickly went viral; after the game, he tweeted out an emotional bedside video in which he said, “On the most heartfelt day (9/11) in this great country made up by immigrants…I truly meant no disrespect, because all I wanted to do was show some love to these two historical head coaches…Hopefully, I’ll have another chance.” The Broncos beat the Chargers 24-21 in Denver, by the way.
